If rapid fire isn't an object easy use it as a single shot, don't load the mag. You can then get 2.90+ to load and fire, no problem. Fired cases will eject. the only problem is getting an unfired case out. But all yoou need to do then is use the bolt stop/removal and pull the bolt back oout with the unfired case. for ease you can get a single shot follower that just inserts into the mag and makes a very nice ramp for single shot loading. This might sound crazy or complicated....i do it all the time.
My short action M700 will load cases with COL of 2.90. without any magazine adjustment.
Again ejection of unfired cases over 2.90 can be a problem, they will feed well but the bullet nose will hit the front receiver ring.
model SPS and ADls have easy to extend magazine walls; but again the magazine isn't the problem, ejection of long unfired case is.
I would never change the bolt stop on a M700 as it is integral with the trigger assembly.
If you want to chamber to a longer case than above, just sell the rifle and get a long action.
good luck.
