Explain SAAMI pressure and wear on firearms

What exactly does the SAAMI PSI mean in relation to firearm wear and tear. When your pistol was made, it was made with the SAMMI specs for the caliber it was released in. I assume that the G22 is a 40 S&W caliber pistol. Or rated at 35,000 psi, the gun was setup and timed at that pressure to function properly.

I too played with the 357 Sig conversion on a FNH FNP-40. The 357 Sig is rated at 38,000 psi. I shot maybe 10 rounds out of the gun and decided that while I liked the 357 Sig performance, I was not crazy about how it beat up the pistol. The slide takes more abuse and the frame and fire control group is defiantly shaken up. One thought I had was to change the recoil spring to a heavier one and absorb the additional recoil. Never did get around to it, traded the gun in on a 45 ACP instead.

My basic impression while doing the 357 Sig conversion, was that if I wanted a 357 Sig, I would just go out and buy a gun made for that caliber. And have the correct parts to start with. (and a stronger frame). If I had to do it over, I would start out with a 357 Sig and convert it to 40 S&W. (but why do that?)

But that's just my view on it, others may disagree.
Jim

BP Firearms shipping (in to MI) - am I missing something?

Please excuse the post but it does refer to BP firearms.

I've been looking at a number of different sites/suppliers as I look at the possibility of purchasing one of the Traditions Crockett Rifles - .32 cal. = obviously to come up with the best price I can. What has surprised me is that on a number of the sites, they state that they cannot ship to Michigan? Huh?

Why? Am I missing something or has something changed in regards to MI and shipping BP firearms in to the state?

I thought that BP firearms were not considered "firearms" but rather "antiques" - regardless of if they are original or reproductions. I haven't purchased a BP on line or from out of state (other than private purchase) for a number of years but I never had a problem before with ordering them from out of state and having them shipped.

I can go to Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas and purchase the Crockett Rifle - I need no permit or purchase license - so why are these sites restricting sales and shipping in to Michigan? The only restriction that I know of in this state is in regards to a required purchase permit (issued by the local police agency) in order to purchase a modern cartridge handgun. Of course any modern handgun/longgun has the usual FFL paperwork as well. I can go in to any store and purchase a BP pistol/rifle/shotgun with no problems at all.

Cheaper Than Dirt was one of the sites and there were several others as well. What gives? Can someone set me straight on this? Has something changed in regards to mail order out of state purchases for BP handguns/rifles/etc.?

Thanks.

Korth Firearms?

You may of already picked the following up in your research but here goes. The Blue Book of Gun Values states "literally manufactured one-at-a-time, resulting in limited mfg. (less than 100 annually)".

The little bit of pricing revealed seems less than what I was expecting, but it does make you wonder about the availability. I suppose I best get my order in now if I expect to receive one in my lifetime.
