Looking for grip advice for S&W large frame

.

FWIW, I've bought 5 different grips from Eagle, over the years, and have never been disappointed or had an issue.

What I DO know is that is a customer has an issue with the grips, Eagle will stand behind them & make it right.

IMO, They're a good company/people to do business with.

Casting Large Bullets

How many cavities on your mold?

Sounds like your not up to temp with it just yet.

If you do the preheat on the stove, set a iron skillet, or old skill saw blade on top of the burner to equalize the heat, and keep it from being directly on the aluminum mold. IF you heat it straight up you could possibly and easily war the aluminum.

If your using the 6 cavity old, just start out with the first two holes and pour as fast as you can to get the heat up. Once you start throwing a good bullet from those add another hole. Repeat until your pouring all six cavities.

The big bullet molds like heat, and they can cool off pretty quick as well. I use several in the 300gr range. I try and keep my pot temp in the 650 - 675 degree range, and pour fast enough to just get a light frosting on the bullets. So far it has worked great and it helps keep the tumble lube on them as well. (Thats my story and I'm stickin to it anyway)

WTT Large Rifle Primers for Large Pistol Primers (upstate NY)

I'm looking to trade about 500-700 Winchester WLPs for any brand of Large Pistol Primers, although I'd prefer CCI. Just bought a 1911 and primers are my limiting reagent.

I'm in Waterford NY. Willing to drive 25 miles in any radius.

Will also purchase LPPs if desired.

I can do online sales/trades but I'd imagine hazmat applies, and I don't want to pay the hazmat, so FTF is preferred.

Mods: If this is inappropriate for this forum please move it to the proper one.

Best,

-Mike

Large Cast Boolits and lube areas

Cast Boolits - Dedicated To The World Of Cast Bullets!

A 535 Creedmoor cast boolit with 4 lube areas, when seating I only have 3 lube areas inside the boolit. Do you need to lube the 4th area or does it matter? (using Black Powder) beng
Probably depends on the length of your barrel. Do you have a lube star with three filled?

There is no 'right' that requires me to work for you or you to work for me!

It's 34" heavy 1-18 Green Mountain barrel and 3 filled
