Whale oil

I still have a 2 to 4 oz. bottle of Mitchell (Motion Picture) Camera oil from the 40s or 50s that contains a percentage of spermaceti.

Moose here suggested next time I go to Japan on business to pick up some sperm whale oil (I'll get some whale sperm oil too if I can find it!). Anyways, if it's sold by the GALLON (I assumed it would be in a plastic 'LEE alox' kind of container), I can only imagine what the TSA will think when they scan my bag on the way through check-in.

Seriously though, how do you think a quart or gallon of the stuff would go over when scanned by TSA (checked luggage of course!)? Think it'll be pinched, or think it'll make it?

ATF is artificial whale oil. I'd use it in a lube recipe which calls for ATF.Nah, ATF is way more suitable.

Burn your Sperm Whale oil in a lamp or donate it to a Whaling museum in New England.
