Ballistic Radio Interview

I was interviewed this evening on the Ballistic Radio program. The topics were pocket pistols and surveillance detection for the average person.

There is a podcast available at : http://ballisticradio.com/2013/06/30/ballistic-radio-episode-17-june-30-2013/

Free Exterior Ballistic Software

Can someone please recommend a free exterior ballistic software application that is highly respected? I was shooting my Trapdoor today and came away from the range with a desire to play around with such. However, after a lengthy search on the I'net, I am frustrated with one I tried, and the few others I read about but don't want to BUY.

I also did a search on this site which did not answer this question.

I want to run this on Win7.

Thanks.
Bob

While not on a laptop or PC and definitely not Freeware, I use the Ballistic AE program on my iPhone right at the range. It's pretty accurate in its predictions and it is infinitely adjustable for range, velocity and wind. The author continually updates it and you can print out the graphs that it produces. It also has a heads up type display for those using it right on their rifle. As I recall, it cost me about $20 USD and I've used it enough over the last several years to consider it more than paid for. In relative terms, it's less than the cost of a box of factory centerfire bullets and will last infinitely longer!

Here's a link to its web site:

Here's a You Tube video on programming it:

Using Ballistic Products question

I ordered the Slug pamphlet from BPI hoping for info on 20, 12 and 410 round ball loads. I have not called them but they list a wad column called LB12 &LGS 41 for 410, none listed for 20 g round ball. wondering if anyone tried these and how they may work in the following guns. Stevens 410-22, remington 870 smoothbore 12 g and a marlin 512 rifled slug gun. I have to look at my past posts to find something for my daughters 20 g. I am ignorant here and wonder does the wad column go in a trap wad? is it generally better to use the circle fly fiber wads instead? I was hoping to use my winchester AA hulls and their trap wads like for the lee slug rounds. I do not do well with clutter and want to keep it simple.

I use the Lee .690 ball in the LB12 Light Brush Wad shot cups, roll or fold crimp.

Fastest and easiest thing you will ever load and pretty good accuracy without jumping through a lot of hoops.

I also load the balls on top of a stack of two .125 Nitro Cards and one 1/2" Hard Card Wad or fiber wads. Using a 1/2" softer fiber wad right under the ball allows the ball to "set back" into the wad, just like you sitting in a chair, and does a good job of centering the ball in the bore.
