Thinking Charter Arms Bulldog for CCW

I carry the modern stainless Bulldog .44spl with the 2.5" barrel. I also own a vintage Bulldog with the 3" barrel.

I've been nothing but pleased with my Bulldog. It's a light and ergonomic little powerhouse that I think is fun to shoot (and I even retrofitted mine with the old-style wood grips).

As a previous poster stated, the triggers on Charters are never going to be like a S&W (the S&Ws that use a leaf mainspring). That having been said, the trigger on mine is actually quite nice. The trigger was okay right out of the box, and has smoothed out a little since then. Now, I have a mag Pug .357 (built on the same frame as the Bulldog) and the trigger is nowhere near as nice as my Bulldog's. I guess they vary from gun to gun. No surprise, becasue I have two identical Ruger GP100s (both built in 2012 and only 40 serial numbers apart), and the triggers on them are as different as night and day.

My advice: Check out the Bulldogs, and look for one of the ones with a nicer trigger.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't trade my little Bulldog for anything.

Yesterday while I was up at the lake fishing, between reeling them in (sometimes quite an interval), I was thinking about lead of course, and here is what popped into the old melon. I have a great time casting 45 hp's for the ol' 45, why not kill a couple of birds with the same rock? Just drill the hp through and use some of them for sliding sinkers, I mean why not?

See even old coot types can come up with a semi-original thought once in a while.

Thinking of ordering a Mold from Accurate Molds

My rifle likes the LEE C312-185-1R
I size them to .311 because my rifles throat is .310
So how does this sound ?

31-195R
Body Diameter: 0.311 (+.0015, -.000)
Bullet Weight: 195 grains
Gas Checked: Yes

Special Notes: Bore ride diameter .301 (+.0015, -.000)

Fixed that for you, his tolerance range is 0.0015" not 0.0010" so he can't guarantee to hit 0.301 to 0.302 just slightly too narrow of a window.

Make sure you select the alloy you are using or the closest thing in his drop down list to what you are using. He adjusts the tolerances for the alloy you select so if you ask for a mold to drop 0.311 (+0.0015 -0.0000) from typemetal alloy and then you cast with WW alloy instead it may not hit the tolerance range you specified because the alloy itself can make that much difference. I usually specify WW alloy and then if I want the boolit a little bigger I can always spike my alloy with a little more tin and antimony to push the diameter up a thousandth of an inch or so.

Tom is a master craftsman and he will do his best to give you what you say you want. Just be sure you really want what you think you want.
