Springfield XDM 9: the "just right" ccw gun?

generally speaking there are a lot more Glock owners than there are XDM owners so you may find this discussion a bit 1 sided.

all of those things you listed about the XDM compact the compact glocks also have. the XDM packs the most features into a single package however. it's bigger than the 26(or whatever their smallest 9mm option is) but smaller than the glock 19. it has higher ammo caps than both but all can take the full sized mags where the glock has the advantage of 33 round mags though I don't see much practical purpose of buying a compact gun and then using a mag that triples it's height and weight.

a lot of glock owners like the simplicity of the design and abhor the grip safety and single action trigger of the XDM(I guess too reminiscent of the 1911). I generally shoot glocks better than XDMs(with the exception of my XDM45compact) but I flat out hate the ergonomics of glocks.

IMO, XDMS feel better, have better factory triggers, better ammo cap across the board(equal in the case of 45ACP models), and are more utilitarian in design(more uses in one package without having to resort to several specialized models per caliber). I also prefer the added protection of the grip safety for CCW as I have read numerous reports of neglegent discharges of glocks while carrying. Springfield also has never had to recall it's XDMs and does not have chronic recurring issues like glocks GEN 4 and new gen3s(erratic ejection patterns, spring problems ETC).

Violation of 4th amendment right?

This comes from a Facebook group I'm a part of called "Florida Open Carry" which is largely associated with Florida Carry, Inc. as far as I can tell.

This photo I'm attaching shows a sign that says "bags and coolers will be searched for public safety". This is a public park and the rules are for the 4th of July weekend.

Personally this makes me mad. I see it as an infringement of 4th amendment rights. We have a right to not be searched without reasonable cause and attending a public place is not reasonable cause.

I understand that Baseball games and airports and even private events (concerts) on public lands may require searching before you can gain entrance but I do not believe this to be so for public land.

What do you think?

Pulling to the right on double action trigger

I have a double action CZ 75 BD. I was doing some dry fire practice today with snap caps and putting a coin (a dollar coin to be specific) on the top sight and practicing trigger pull. I noticed that I could always keep the coin on during the first pull but not the second. the gun fires in double action with snap caps obviously so I don't work on the single action pull much because that's already beautiful with this gun.

Anyways, when I took the coin off and looked down the sights, I noticed that I pulled slightly to the right pulling the trigger. I could take up the slack and get it to half-cock fine, but the extra force to pull the trigger pulled my front sight to the right regardless of how slow I pulled. It wasn't too drastic, my front sight remained mostly in between the back two, but it was a noticeable pull to the left.

How do I fix this? Is this just a strength issue?

Midway did me right. :)

I had another thread regarding a shipment of bullets from Midway that arrived in a broken envelope, and bullets were spilled and missing. I am happy to say that...

I have a new box of the 190 Sierras on the way!

And my email which was sent was actually sent signed Larry Potterfield... it is as follows:

"Dear Daniel,

Thank you for your email regarding your order. I'm terribly sorry that you received your order with so many of the bullets missing. I am having another box sent out to you. Once this ships, you will receive an email confirmation.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-243-3220. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT. You may also email us at customerservice@midwayusa.com.

Thanks for Your Business!

Jennifer

Then this one was from Larry Potterfield:

We received your order (#19961056) placed today, 05/28/2013. And since I've always been a stickler for fast shipping, we're working hard to get it out quickly.

Details of your order are outlined below. We'll send tracking information as soon as your order ships.

Thanks for Your Business!

Larry Potterfield,

Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA

So... I'm really happy that Midway did me right on this. I only asked them for one box of bullets, as I'm sure I can make do with what is left of those that I did get.

That's the update... I'm going to post this in its own thread so folks will see that Midway does care about their customers.

Dan
