Cheaper 1911's

I will throw my two pennies in... Colts are good, probably can't go wrong with one, I have a Combat Commander that I like, awesome pistol, runs good, and it's a Colt. Have several SIGs, they cost a little less than the Colt, but they also run good, and generally are a little less of a strain on your budget.

The SIGS do have a lot of features such as a checkered front strap, match barrel and bushing, match hammer and sear, and night sights. These things can run up the tab on other brands. So, (IMHO) the SIG is the best bang for the buck.
Have a RIA also, the pistol is OK, but the magazine that came with it was junk.

So,
Colt 900-1100
SIG 750-1000
RIA 400-500

Don't have any experience with the others. If you take your time and decide what you want, you can usually shop around and find a good deal on it. It just takes some time and effort to find the deal you need.
