G'Day
Down here we have two main beers Boags and Cascade. In 1855 Hobart where cascade is brewed was named the capital of Tasmania. This left the citizens of Launceston (where the Boags brewery resides) angry as they expected to be the capital. Enter the Quail line!!! There was a line from one side of TAS to the other called the Quail Line, it streached from Swansea on the east coast to Strahan on the west side. If you are on the north of this line you can hunt quail and are expected to drink Boags and generally take the piss out of the "Southerners". If you're on the south side of the line you can't hunt quail and are expected to drink Cascade and generally take the piss out of the "Northerners".
The argument still rages on after 158 years and the recent abolition of the quail line.
You bloke reckon the Mason-Dixon caused trouble lol!!!

So you have to be drunk to eat wallaby? I would have to be.
Cheers from New ZealandJeff.
I love hearing about/from people the world over and their hunting tales.
They can be found in large numbers on some properties, one season me and another bloke shot over 2500 on one farm. Wow!! That many could really tear up a farm. Even a big farm.Boolit Mold Join DateMar 2008LocationCntrl Fla.Posts12
What kinda hounds you using for doggin' 'em? How long's the race (chase/run for you non dog users). The whitetail's I run with my walkers usually are good for around 2 to five miles & sometimes around that in hours.Boolit Master Join DateJul 2007LocationTasmania AustraliaPosts272

We used to use Beagle or BeagleX. But we hunted the smaller Rufus Wallaby. They tend to stay in one area were the Bennetts will cover larger distances. Some Dogs will stick for hours.

What happend to "fosters, Austrailian for beer"?
Same as what happened to Mick Dundee. It's bigger in the States than downunder.Jeff you should try getting drunk and cooking up a few 'roo. The first time people eat it they can be put off because:
They have eaten a mature male that was meant for the dogs.
The female they ate had been feeding an older Joey; somehow this taints the meat.
The wallaby have been eating native grass/fearns. The meat has a definite odour which hangs in nostrils, usually clears when cooked but can put the mind off.
They are too sober.
Down here on the West coast they roast it in an oven bag with half a pint of cocacola. You can drink your rum neat then and get yourself in the right frame of mind!
