Old Yesterday, 10:25 AM Old Grump's AvatarLocation: Little hut in the woodsWhen was the surgery, how old are you and how are you doing with physical therapy. What is your experience with shotguns? We have nothing to base a recommendation on. It took me 2 years after rotator cuff surgery at the age of 60 and was restricted to 20 gauge for a year but now handle 10 and 12 gauge just fine. My buddy went through the same surgery but developed Bells Palsy so is out of the shooting game forever, everybody is different. __________________

Did it come with a manual of operation? If so, read that. Depending on the source of the manual, reading it could be a trial.
It sounds like the gun has fixed chokes. If so, when you remove the forend and release the barrels (once the forend is off, move the lever on the top of the receiver to the right and the barrels will be released) turn the barrels over and there should be data stamped into the bottom of the barrels. Some of this is proof info. Part of it, though, should tell you the choke for each barrel. If you cannot interpret the marks, you will need to re post with that info. Or buy a choke gauge.
Some very common choke set ups for SXSs especially Coach guns are CYL/CYL, F/M, F/F.
If there was a suggestion not to fire Buckshot through the left barrel, that one is probably Full choke. The other may well be Modified choke.
How many triggers does the gun have?
The biggest complaint that I have read about is that the gun is stiff to operate. Thorough cleaning will help that.....especially of the interior parts. Using the Gun will also help to loosen it.
