Winchester 77 trigger adjust

I just purchased a Winchester Model 77 and immediately took it apart and see a screw and nut at the top of the trigger and was wondering if the trigger pull can be adjusted with this screw and nut and if so how? Tighten or loosen the nut.

The reason I took it apart so quickly is because the barrel has had some rusting and the wood is in great need of re-finishing and my intention is to completely refinish the wood and rust blue the rest of the metal. Before anyone goes ballistic on me, I plan on keeping it, putting a period scope on it and and shooting it - anyway - my folly - my gun.
