adding lube in tray. How much?

Cast Boolits - Dedicated To The World Of Cast Bullets!

Hi, I'm not into casting, I buy lubed cast bullets. My problem is that the bullets I buy are hard, BHN 20. I have leading problems that I think are caused by 1. the hard bullet 2. too light a charge 3. they need better lube. I made up some Beeswax/Sta-lube moly graph grease, 50/50. To add more lube to my bought bullets, I heated the lube a little so I could spread it on a tray. At room temp, I rolled the bullets in the tray to lube them. You really can't see the lube on the bullets, but you can feel it. Never having done this before, is it possible to put too much lube on the bullets or how do I know how much to use? I looked at other message but could not find an answer.

Bet the bullets are a bit undersized too.
Nothing leads like a hard, undersized bullet.
If they are undersized then no lube is going to overcome that.
btroj, you're wrong. The dam* barrel is over-sized. So, actually you got it right. I measured the barrel, groove to groove, at .362, for a 9cc, then I sent it back to the manufacturer and am waiting for a reply.
Now you know why we cast our own.
We control the alloy
We control the size
We control the lube
We can modify about anything we want
We can choose a design to suit our needs
We can design a new bullet to fit a specific need

Notice that we are control freaks? We want to do what we want, how we want. Doing that requires making our own. We also just happen to get off on that too.

My suggestion? Get into casting. A proper sized bullet will not lead under normal circumstances.

The way we lube in a pan is to stand them on their bases and pour melted lube in the pan until the depth covers the grooves. Let cool and cut them out with an empty, fired cartridge case with the primer hole drilled out to allow a push rod to shove them back out.
I'd suggest you remove the existing lube if you wanna re-lube the bullets. I use a toaster oven @175-200 degrees to melt off the existing lube, soaked up with a paper towel under the bullets. Do a search on "pan lubing" and you'll get a whole bunch of ideas on how to lube your bullets easily and without a lot of equipment. I'm too lazy to type in the whole procedure right now, sorry...
