Vintage mold/tool help

Cast Boolits - Dedicated To The World Of Cast Bullets!

From this amateurs perspective, it looks like a mold reloadng tool combo. I think, the "catch" is to lever the casing into the bullet in the hollow part.
Could the case go thru the hole in the one arm and then open the tool all the way and use the other lever to seat a primer?

Leadman - it looks like that would work, although it would be sort of a "point" pushing on the primer - doesn't seem safe.
almost looks like the hook used to remove berdan primers.

that mold might be from Dixie gun works.

it's all an educated guess,,,, till the trigger is pulled.

the more i find out about shootin boolits, the more it contradicts everything i ever learned about shooting jaxketed.

This came out of a collection of really old pre-Civil War to about 1905 bullet molds, so am thinking this is not a reproduction. It was in a box full of Colt Patent double cavity molds.
So is the patent date of 1971 a typo? If so my money is on the hook being a berdan decapper.

Any way you look at it, I bet those metal handles get to hot to hold when the mold is up to temperture.

Have you mistyped the pat. date? 1971

Whoops - actually patent date is 1871. I guess I fat-fingered it.
