Yeah, I'm wondering that too. And how big is a wallabee? Nice shot btw.

G'Day
They are a small Macropod which is the same family all kangaroo are from. We have the Bennetts Wallaby (pictured) which grow to about 3ft with the odd one larger and then we can also hunt the Rufus wallaby which is smaller but inhabits a lot thicker areas. The head on them is about the size of a tennis ball and I will admit that the 35rem has a scope on it. The 45/70 didn't and that's my excuse for the chest shot lol. We shoot a lot of these under crop protection permits with a spotlight but the ones here were shot in the arvo.
They can be found in large numbers on some properties, one season me and another bloke shot over 2500 on one farm.

whoa! that's a LOT of shooting!

I'd use cast too for that type of volume!

You could start your own meat processing plant with that many.

Macropod,eh? Bipod= 2 legs, tripod= three legs, and Macropod= big leg? Are they a pest/varmint, or do you have a recipe for wallabee pot pie? What do they taste like?

That's the same wallabies we have here (imported from Oz).

Personally I think you are under gunned........

Cheers from New Zealand

Jeff.

G'Day All
Blammer it was some of the 35 checks I got off you going to good use. We used to have a commercial license so they would go to be processed for pet meat. That year I lost count but on that property they had a log to fill out, prodably shot the same amount on the other places together.
The most we've shot and picked up in a night was 165 but when we've been just culling sometimes it's well over 200.
Also cull Brush Tail Possums in large amounts. We shot 450+ in one paddock, one night.

Those poor, defenseless and cute little critters..... by God, ya finished 'em but good!! har har!! Makes we almost wish we had 'em out here, just for the shootin' fun of it all!! Like a big jackrabbit, it seems they were just tailor-made for cast boolit shootin' fun!!
The Government that robs from Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.
I was going to say, Wallaby jerky would probably be real good. G'don ya mite (mate)! I'd love to keep that busy shooting to clean out a farm. We shoot the grey digger ground squirrels in central Oregon and in the Willamette Valley some farmers need help stopping depredation by the nutria.
Dude, that is gnarley. Great shooting.
I came into this world kicking, screaming, and covered in someone elses blood. I plan to go out the same way.
Thats pretty cool, wish I could come help you with that problem....
