I got Red River 195 grain TCGC 30 cal .310 bullets yesterday and was looking to reload 7.5x55 Swiss for my K31. I cannot find any load data and was wondering if anyone could help. I have on hand, 2400, Unique, Bullseye, Trailboss, 231 and IMR 4895 powders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a search for username TXPETE, I think he posted some data.

I've been fooling with the old Ed Harris load of 11-12 grains of Red Dot in one of mine, which happens to be worn enough that it'll chamber a 311299 boolit which is 202 grains lubed and gas checked. Bullseye being a tad slower, you might start there for a 1400 fps load. 4895 is a tad faster that Varget, and I have done 37 grains of Varget for 2000 fps. That load wasn't very accurate, but I'm working through bedding issues with that rifle so I can't necessarily blame the load.

7.5x55 has the same capacity as the 30-06. If that boolit chambers properly, start at 16gr 2400 and work up. With 4895 I would be expecting to find accuracy in the 35-37gr range.
This load works well in my K31.
4895 27.0 grs.
Win L.R. primer
RCBS 180 SP--the top of the gas check is at the neck/shoulder junction.
From the guys at Swissriflesdotcom, Reloder 17 is the original powder for 7.5x55.
I aim to misbehave.

Mostly Harmless.

Either of my Swiss rifles...a K-31 and a G-96/11...will hold 2 1/2"-3" groups @ 100 yds (issue sights) using the Lee 200-grainer sized .310 and loaded over 29.5 gr H4895 with a dacron fill.

The Swiss ran the K31 rifling right back to the case mouth on a new barrel, and the land diameter on a new barrel is about .297". This causes serious challenges for jacketed and cast loads, in a barrel that has not been shot a lot.

The nose on most bore rider cast design molds is .300". It would take a good bit of effort to jam a .300" bullet into a newish .297" bore. Loverin designs would be worse.

All 6 K31 rifles I've shot like Swiss GP11. All have also liked the Remington 165gr SPCL. Two with near new barrels did not like Sierra 168's initially. Any bullet you use will have to have a strong taper immediately ahead of the cannelure, or on a newish barrel you'll be jamming it into the rifling.

There is a lot of good jacketed data on SwissRifles, and good cast data here.

There's somebody on the forum that makes a die to swage the nose of your boolits down to fit the tight throat of a fresh K31. I made my own, being cheap. It works, (on the 311041, anyway).

When in doubt, suggest that you start with minimum loads listed for 308 and work up for accuracy. Also suggest neck sizing brass and making sure that you have a blt that will seat with the short throat in a K-31, and try sizing .309.

I have found that 16gr 2400 and other low velocity loads shoot about 6 inches to the right of poa. I scoped the k31 I use for cast bullets. Have not tried 1600fps+ loads to see if that changes things much.
NOE 311 180Gr FN K-31 bullet. 18 Gr 2400 powder. NO FILLER.Can you tell me what is stamped on the side of this mold? I have a NOE .311 180 gr mold but the stamping doesn't have K-31. I can't imagine that I didn't buy a mold for the K-31.

If it is the correct mold, I hope it works in a 1911 too. I'm picking one up at the UPS terminal this afternoon.

The Lee 155 grain 312 mould with 12.5 grains of unique, and bullets weighing about 156-7 with gas check and lube chrono'ed at an average of 1567 FPS out of my k31 14 shot average. The shot variances are very tight. This load could probably shoot a 1 to 2 inch group easily. I was attempting to sight in my scope so I was unable to shoot for just groups. The bullet has to be seated properly because it does not have a taper that is friendly to the k31 throat.
