550B and universal powder

Cast Boolits - Dedicated To The World Of Cast Bullets!

I cannot seem to get my powder measure to drop a consistant 6.0 grains ov universal for the life of me everything tight and wing nut set properly so when handle is pushed foward to seat primer a buisness card is barly able to fit between the coils as dillon suggests. i try and throw 5 consectutive but get between 6.0- 6.8 grains and periodic nothing drops. Any suggestions. by the way this is for a .45acp 200gr. mihec H&G clone star cases and as close to as possible handle operation with an inline base.
Static cling in the hopper? Wiping out the hopper with a used dryer sheet may help. It's usually worse in low humity environments. Try hanging a clean, used dryer sheet over the edge, but in the hopper. I've heard it helps...
Ok, it sounds like the fail-safe is working the way it should on the return, but do you have the powder die set right?? If you aren't belling the case, you're probably not getting a complete cycle on the powder measure (this is assuming that you're using a Dillon measure, you didn't say.....) Other things to check/do are to pull the measure apart and make sure everything is dry and clean, put it back together and then run a pound of powder thru it manually (open the charge bar all the way) this gives it a good coat of graphite, which helps the measure settle in. Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is buffing the inside of the measure base, but that's usually just for those anal few that are trying for less than .1 deviation........
